Planning Our First Tour

With all the news going around about booking and budgeting for tours, we thought we'd try our hand at going on tour. Before we go into the gory details of budgets, money, schedules, food, and all that goes along with planning a tour, we thought we'd give you a little background of who we are and what we're trying to do.

Saint Aubin is a band from Indianapolis, IN. We've been described as a soulful collision of alt-rock and swampy ambience (read: Indie Rock). We've been playing together for a little over a year and will release our first EP (titled Moonlight Monster) on January 9th. We'll been featured as a new and notable artist on Noisetrade from November 12th-20th, have played with The Ataris (Boys of Summer Fame), Swear and Shake, and Leopold and His Fiction (recently featured on Sons of Anarchy), and won Columbia College's Band Brawl in 2013. After this awesome year, we're ready to hit the road and share our music with a broader audience.

Being a smaller band with a smaller budget, we're hoping to book our tour independently. We're a bit DIY as it is. We just threw an EP burning party where we invited firends to help us burn our EP onto 300 CDs. We created the artwork ourselves and we're totally self managed. We want to bring this DIY attitude into our tour. This is where we need your help.

Our Schedule

We are trying to book a 5-7 day tour from May 21st - 28th.

Thursday, May 21st - Columbus, OH or Cleveland, OH
Friday, May 22nd - Cincinnati, OH
Saturday, May 23rd - Louisville, KY
Sunday, May 24th - Nashville, TN
Monday, May 25th - Day off
Tuesday, May 26th - Oklahoma City, OK
Wednesday, May 27th - Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO
Thursday, May 28th - If Kansas City, then St. Louis. If not, Indianapolis, IN.
Friday, May 29th - Indianapolis, IN

What We Need

We've been lucky to have friends in many of these cities who will give us a place to lay our head, but here's what we need:

1. Bands with a great local draw.
2. Venues the people want to go to. (We're currently playing at 150-200 capacity venues)
3. Contact information of local booking agents for venues.
4. Publicity (college/local radio play, popular local blog writeups, newspaper articles, sharing with your friends on facebook, etc)
5. Fans & Friends

Our Budget

Finally, Here's our budget:

Gas - $300
Car - Free (Borrowing from a family member)
Food - $300 (buying groceries for the band and one photo/video/merch guy)

Our hope is to use sites like reddit, noisetrade, bandcamp, and anything else to promote and plan our tour.
